  • Shipping lines caught by ransomware

The shipping industry has now been caught up in the recent wave of ransomware attacks. The unfolding Petya attack has claimed AP Moller-Maersk, which has reportedly had multiple sites down.

Notices have been sent at ports in Australia as computer operations continue to disrupt operations.

It’s not known how many other lines or agents have been affected at this stage.

Security company Kaspersky Labs have confirmed that the newest ransomwear is taking advantage of exploits similar to those found in the wannacry attack which broke in May.

Update @ 2:30pm Maersk have shut down a number of IT systems across multiple sites to contain the issue. The line also clarified that all vessels are under control and all employees safe.
